Monaco's Diplomatic Voice Strengthened at European Parliamentary Conference
President Thomas Brezzo represents Monaco at the European Parliamentary Conference in Strasbourg, emphasizing democratic values and parliamentary cooperation.
In light of increasing geopolitical tensions, Thomas Brezzo, President of the National Council of Monaco, represented the Principality at the European Parliamentary Conference in Strasbourg, reinforcing Monaco's diplomatic stance on the international stage.
On March 20 and 21, the Monegasque delegation actively engaged in discussions centered on three fundamental issues: the safeguarding of democracy, the assurance of freedom of expression during polarized times, and violence against political figures.
Brezzo utilized this platform to reaffirm the Principality's unwavering commitment to democratic values and the rule of law, while also expressing solidarity with Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
In conjunction with the official summit, several strategic bilateral meetings were held with delegations from Iceland, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Belgium.
These meetings aimed to foster new parliamentary collaborations, particularly through the establishment of working groups on shared themes.
A notable focus was placed on the integration of artificial intelligence into legislative processes, a topic discussed between Cédric Braquetti, the Secretary General, and representatives from other nations.
Furthermore, President Brezzo engaged with several prominent counterparts, including Yaël Braun-Pivet from the French National Assembly, Dalibor Riccardi from the San Marino Parliament, and Greg Fergus from the Canadian Parliament.
These discussions facilitated the presentation of Monaco's institutional specifics and ongoing legislative initiatives.
Brezzo's diplomatic mission aligns with a new strategy to enhance interparliamentary cooperation and amplify Monaco's distinctive voice within the broader European discourse, affirming the Principality's intention to play an active role in contemporary debates.
