Monaco's Princess Grace Hospital Integrates AI Technology into MRI Services

The integration of SmartSpeed AI into MRI processes aims to enhance diagnostic efficiency and accuracy at CHPG.
The Princess Grace Hospital Centre (CHPG) in Monaco is undergoing a digital transformation with the integration of SmartSpeed, an artificial intelligence module, into its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.

This technological advancement is designed to significantly reduce the duration of MRI examinations while improving image resolution, which is critical for ensuring faster and more accurate diagnoses.

This initiative is particularly important in the management of strokes, as it enhances the detection of arterial stenoses and occlusions and improves the analysis of cerebral perfusion.

The acceleration of diagnostic procedures is expected to contribute to better patient care and improved prognoses for stroke patients, according to the CHPG.

The SmartSpeed module was acquired through a donation from Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, the owner of AS Monaco.

It was put into service in December 2024 and officially inaugurated on March 12, 2025, within the MRI department of CHPG.

Rybolovlev, who has a medical background, emphasized the importance of early and precise diagnosis, praising the new equipment's capability to identify serious conditions such as strokes.

Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, the hospital's director, noted that this initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance patient experience in the hospital setting.

Christophe Robino, the ministerial adviser for social affairs and health, highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence in predictive medicine and early disease detection.

The new equipment complements the capabilities of the CHPG's imaging department, which has been equipped since 2021 with High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), a non-invasive treatment technology for uterine fibroids that is available in only two healthcare centers in the France-Monaco area.
