Orthodox Christmas Celebrated in Monaco with Georgian-Themed Gala
Monaco's Orthodox Christmas event supports Red Cross initiatives with a Georgian cultural theme.
On January 10, the Orthodox community in Monaco gathered to celebrate Christmas, organized by the Sainte-Elena parish in Monte-Carlo.
Presided over by His Grace Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe, the event saw the attendance of Orthodox faithful from Monaco and neighboring regions, as well as dignitaries from the Monégasque and French states.
A delegation representing His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia was also present.
It included His Eminence Metropolitan Sava of Khoni and Samtredia, His Grace Bishop Vachtang of Margveti and Ubisi, and Patriarchal Protopresbyter George Zviadadze.
Following a Christmas service at the Orthodox parish, over 180 attendees gathered at the Yacht Club of Monaco for a gala dinner featuring musical performances, traditional Georgian dances, and an auction conducted by Sotheby’s Monaco.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Monégasque Red Cross, the Georgian Red Cross, and the parish of Monaco.
Renowned Georgian chef Irakli Asatiani and his team traveled from the Georgian capital to prepare a three-course meal for the guests, highlighting the evening's cultural theme of 'Georgian Christmas'.
