Racing Stars Football Cup to Feature Sporting Legends in Monaco

Racing Stars Football Cup to Feature Sporting Legends in Monaco

Louis Ducruet announces a star-studded lineup for the inaugural event, involving top athletes and entertainers alongside F1 drivers.
The traditional soccer match featuring Formula 1 drivers, historically held before the Monaco Grand Prix, is set to undergo a transformation this year with the launch of the Racing Stars Football Cup.

Scheduled for May 21, 2025, at 15:00 at the Stade Louis-II, the event aims to unite legends from both football and motorsport, along with prominent figures from the entertainment industry.

Louis Ducruet, president of the Barbagiuans and a member of the royal family, expressed enthusiasm for the new direction of the event, emphasizing the importance of integrating high-caliber athletes from various fields.

The event will feature notable personalities such as Teddy Riner, a three-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, who is anticipated to showcase his skills on the football pitch.

The Nazionale Piloti, representing Formula 1, will include drivers Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Isack Hadjar, among others, who will compete against familiar faces from the Barbagiuans, including Ludovic Giuly and Flavio Roma.

In addition to athletes, the event is set to include appearances by singer M. Pokora, comedians Paul Mirabel and Ragnar Le Breton, and model Baptiste Giabiconi.

The match aims to raise funds for the Jules Bianchi association and Be Safe Monaco, both of which focus on significant social causes.

Tickets for the event are priced at €10 and are available through the Barbagiuans' official website.

Mika Häkkinen, the former Formula 1 champion from the 1990s, will serve as the ambassador for the inaugural Racing Stars Football Cup.

Häkkinen expressed his honor in taking on this role and highlighted the importance of the event’s charitable contributions.

The Racing Stars Football Cup seeks to revive a tradition that has endured for over 30 years in Monaco, originally established by Mauro Serra.

The event will be conducted under the high patronage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and is positioned as a blend of sporting camaraderie and social responsibility.

Attendees can expect a celebration of diversity in sports, with the lineup reflecting a commitment to solidarity and community engagement.

The fundraising efforts from the match will support the Jules Bianchi association, established in memory of the late F1 driver who tragically passed away in 2015, and Be Safe Monaco, which raises awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving.

The dual focus on sports and charity aligns with the long-standing values of the Barbagiuans, fostering a legacy of community commitment while engaging fans and supporters.
