16th Meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative to Focus on Ocean Conservation and Sustainable Blue Economy
The 16th Monaco Blue Initiative will convene in March 2025, bringing together international stakeholders to discuss marine conservation, sustainable development, and financing efforts.
The 16th meeting of the Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI) will take place on 24 March 2025 under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.
The meeting will focus on advancing international dialogue and cooperation on ocean conservation and governance.
The MBI is co-organized by the Oceanographic Institute – Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
It will bring together key global stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, NGOs, the private sector, the scientific community, and the media, to explore synergies between marine conservation efforts and a sustainable blue economy.
The meeting will address three primary themes: the transition from a maritime to a regenerative blue economy while safeguarding marine ecosystems, the role of science in guiding decisions for sustainable marine management, and strategies for accelerating financial mobilization to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 (life below water).
Additionally, the meeting will provide updates on upcoming international events, including the Third UN Ocean Conference, the 2025 IUCN Conservation Congress, and the 2025 Our Ocean Conference.
