Affordable Meals for UN Ocean Conference Participants in Nice

A special application facilitates €20 meals for 5,000 delegates attending the UN Ocean Conference.
During the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC-3) taking place in Nice from June 9 to 13, 2025, approximately 200 local restaurateurs have collaborated to offer a meal service for €20 through a specially designed application.

This initiative is aimed at supporting around 5,000 participants, including police officers, administrative staff, and members of the French diplomatic service who are actively engaged with the conference.

The meal service is facilitated by the Pluxee brand, a venture operated by the catering company Sodexo.

Participants will receive either a physical card or a digital option to use the application, enabling them to select meals that include an appetizer, a main dish, and a dessert for the established price of €20.

Noël Ajoury, president of the Nice Côte d’Azur Union of Hotel and Restaurant Professions (Umih), emphasized the benefits of this program, noting that the original proposed price for the meal was set at €22 but was subsequently reduced to €20 to make dining more accessible during the conference.

He highlighted that typical daily meal prices in Nice range between €15 and €17, making this offer particularly advantageous for conference attendees.

The initiative is supported by the United Nations services and coordinated with local authorities, including the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture and the city council of Nice.

The collaboration aims to enhance the image of Nice as a host city, streamline the dining experience for delegates, and provide support to the local hospitality industry during this significant international event.

Initially, 160 restaurateurs expressed interest in joining the Pluxee program; this number has now grown to nearly 200.

Ajoury noted that while establishments near the port of Nice are expected to be the most frequented, participation extends to additional restaurants throughout the area surrounding the conference venue.
