Annual Charity Dinner Raises €600,000 for Mediterranean Seagrass Conservation

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and Prince Albert II of Monaco lead a fundraising effort for marine ecosystems.
On October 25, 2023, the 12th Annual Charity Dinner organized by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation successfully raised €600,000 to support the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

The event featured speeches from notable figures including Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, and Dr. Adil Najam, President of WWF International.

The focus of the evening was to raise awareness and funds for the protection of seagrass meadows in the Mediterranean.

Seagrass meadows are crucial habitats for thousands of marine species and play a significant role in climate regulation by sequestering carbon.

The funds collected during the event will support initiatives aimed at conserving these vital ecosystems, which are essential for maintaining marine biodiversity in the region.

The Mediterranean Sea is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to a variety of marine life.

The gala attracted the participation of 50 philanthropic supporters whose contributions are intended to enhance environmental protection efforts and marine biodiversity conservation.

The event underscored the urgent need for collective action in environmental protection.

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, WWF, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation will continue their collaboration to preserve the unique marine landscapes of the Mediterranean.
