Antoine Zeghdar Appointed Official Ambassador of the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation

The Olympic champion aims to promote the foundation's values of solidarity and safety through sports.
Antoine Zeghdar, a recent Olympic champion with the French rugby sevens team, has been appointed as the official ambassador of the Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation.

The announcement was made on April 18, marking a significant step in Zeghdar's career that aligns with his deep-rooted connection to the Principality of Monaco.

The Princess Charlène of Monaco Foundation, established to support initiatives aimed at promoting safety and social development through sports, highlighted Zeghdar's appointment as part of its strategy to engage notable figures who can help advance its mission, undertake projects, and spotlight emerging talents within their communities.

Zeghdar, who grew up in Monaco, has expressed a personal connection to the foundation, recalling his experience participating in a project that facilitated an exchange program with the Monaco rugby team in South Africa during his youth.

He emphasizes how the values promoted by the foundation—such as solidarity, respect, and personal excellence—resonate deeply with the principles of rugby.

His role as ambassador entails increased responsibility, as he plans to actively contribute to the foundation's initiatives aimed at combating drowning and fostering education through sport.

Zeghdar expressed enthusiasm about supporting the foundation through various actions and events, signaling his commitment to its objectives.

While Zeghdar has yet to finalize specific projects or missions due to the unpredictable nature of an athlete's schedule, he remains optimistic about advocating for the foundation's values when opportunities arise.

Having grown up in Monaco, Zeghdar has had previous interactions with Princess Charlène, who frequently engages with youth and sporting events in the Principality.

He noted that both Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène conveyed their congratulations on his Olympic success, reflecting a supportive relationship with Monaco's royal family.

Zeghdar aims to inspire today's youth through his dual roles as a professional rugby player and ambassador, emphasizing the impact that established athletes can have as mentors.

By sharing his experiences and advocating for the foundation's causes, he hopes to raise awareness about drowning prevention and promote the developmental benefits of sports for young people.
