Macao Delegation Visits Monaco to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Key economic and technological discussions mark the start of a closer partnership between Macao and Monaco.
During a European tour, a delegation from the Macao Special Administrative Region visited the Principality of Monaco on March 8 and 9, 2025. The delegation was led by Tai Kin Ip, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao government, and included high-ranking officials such as the directors of the Economic and Technological Development Bureau, the Tourism Office, and the Centre for Studies at the University of Macao.

Accompanying them were representatives from Macao’s business sector, particularly in high technologies, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications.

Notably, Galaxy Entertainment Group, a major player in Macao's hotel and casino industry, was represented by its Director of General Affairs, Buddy Lam.

The group has been a partner of the Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) in the Asia-Pacific region since 2017. An official dinner, hosted by Marie-Pascale Boisson, Monaco's Ambassador to China, provided an opportunity for the delegation to engage with various Monégasque institutional stakeholders, including representatives from the Finance and Economy departments, the External Relations and Cooperation department, and the Tourism and Congress Directorate.

The Monaco Economic Board (MEB) was also present at these discussions, along with local entrepreneurs engaged in technological innovation.

Following the visit, Tai Kin Ip emphasized that the meeting marked an initial step towards deepening existing relations between Monaco and Macao, paving the way for future economic and technological cooperation between the two territories.
