Major Traffic Jam on A8 Following Accident Near Nice
A collision involving two trucks has caused significant disruption to traffic flow in the direction of France from Italy.
Traffic on the A8 motorway remains severely disrupted in the direction of North Nice following an accident involving two trucks at Las Planas, which occurred around 3:30 PM on April 8, 2025. Reports indicate that numerous trucks were at a standstill by approximately 4:15 PM. According to Escota, the traffic jam also affects lanes heading towards Aix/Marseille after exit number 54, Nice Quartier Nord.
Vinci Autoroutes has stated that their teams are on site managing the incident, with vehicles currently allowed to pass on only one lane.
Emergency services, including an ambulance, were dispatched to the scene after one of the drivers sustained minor injuries.
The traffic congestion extends to the Ariane area, and access to the North Nice entrance has been closed.
Vehicles are currently restricted to the leftmost lane.
Vinci has reported that travel times have increased by approximately 30 minutes due to the ongoing situation.
Both gendarmerie and Vinci Autoroutes personnel are present to assist with traffic management.
