Monaco Advances Anti-Money Laundering Strategy Amid International Scrutiny
The government of Monaco outlines progress in combating financial crime and corruption during a key committee meeting.
On April 7, 2025, the first college of the Committee for Coordination and Monitoring of the National Strategy for the Fight Against Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Corruption convened in Monaco.
The meeting was chaired by Pierre-André Chiappori, Government Counselor and Minister of Finance and Economy.
During the session, the committee acknowledged the progress made by Monaco since its inclusion on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) 'grey list.' The authorities received commendation for their advancements across various sectors following their first progress report submitted to the FATF several weeks prior.
Chiappori highlighted the importance of continuing collective efforts leading up to future engagements with the International Cooperation Review Group (ICRG) scheduled for this month.
The discussions will focus on further cooperation regarding Monaco's compliance with international standards on anti-money laundering and related financial regulations.
In addition, the committee unanimously adopted the National Strategy on Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing, Proliferation, and Corruption, along with its Action Plan for 2025-2027. This framework aims to strengthen Monaco's institutional response to financial crime and enhance cooperation with international partners.
