Monaco Celebrates Sports Excellence with 885 Awards

The Principality honors amateur athletes during the 2025 Sports Festival, highlighting its status as the World Capital of Sports.
In the historic setting of the Honor Courtyard of Monaco’s Town Hall, the Principality hosted its annual Sports Festival on June 11 and 12, 2025, celebrating local amateur athletes with a remarkable total of 885 awards presented during the event.

This ceremony, a cherished tradition in Monaco, aims to recognize the achievements of athletes who represent the Principality across various competitions, albeit often away from the media spotlight.

On June 11, a total of 460 athletes received medals for their regional and departmental performances in a ceremony that combined pride and emotion, reflecting the community spirit and collective achievement inherent in sports.

The event also marked a significant milestone for Monaco, as it had been recently designated as the 'World Capital of Sports 2025.' Jacques Pastor, Deputy Mayor and Delegate for Sports Facilities, emphasized the importance of this recognition, stating, "This distinction rewards the wealth and diversity of major sports events hosted by Monaco year after year." This accolade reinforces Monaco's long-standing reputation for excellence in hosting high-profile sports events, further establishing it as a prominent venue on the global sports map.

The second day of the festival on June 12 featured another layer of celebration, as 185 bronze, 126 silver, and 114 gold medals were awarded, with André J. Campana, representing the Mayor, presiding over the proceedings.

The presence of notable figures, including Mélanie Antoinette De Massy and Yvette Lambin Berti, Secretary General of the Monaco Olympic Committee, lent an official gravitas to the event, underlining the prominence that the Principality places on its amateur sports community.

During his address, Campana noted the individual and collective achievements of the athletes honored, acknowledging their contributions to Monaco's sporting legacy.

This year's festival extends Monaco's tradition of balancing elite sports and amateur passion, where each awarded medal symbolizes a link in a chain of excellence uniting all of the Principality's athletes.

The celebrations in June are also complemented by additional events such as the Monaco Language Competition and activities at the Monaco Academy of Arts, reflecting Monaco's commitment to excellence across various cultural dimensions, reinforcing its unique character and heritage.
