Monaco Prepares for Macron's Visit Amid Major Traffic Restrictions
Significant disruptions anticipated as the Blue Economy and Finance Forum coincides with the French President's state visit on June 7-8.
Monaco will host a significant diplomatic and economic event this weekend, namely the Blue Economy and Finance Forum at the Grimaldi Forum, coinciding with a state visit by French President Emmanuel Macron.
This convergence of prominent events necessitates an extensive security operation, which will temporarily alter traffic patterns throughout the Principality.
From Saturday, June 7, at 6 AM to 8 PM and Sunday, June 8, from 6 AM to 5 PM, the critical artery of Avenue Princesse Grace will be completely closed to traffic in both directions between the Portier Roundabout and the Rose des Vents Roundabout.
Access will be permitted only for residents of Saint-Jean Lane and nearby luxury hotels—including Émilie Palace, La Réserve, Houston Palace, and Columbia Palace—who may enter exclusively via the Rose des Vents entrance.
The movement of official delegations will result in intermittent traffic disruptions across Monaco, particularly affecting Monaco-Ville, Monte-Carlo, and Larvotto.
Difficulty is expected for vehicles attempting to access the Principality from the highway tunnel and Moyen Corniche, especially towards the western entrance.
On Sunday, June 8, from 12:30 PM to 4 PM, Boulevard Louis II will be inaccessible to both vehicles and pedestrians between the Portier Roundabout and the Pattaya turnaround, which will also block access to the Louis II parking and Monte-Carlo Star.
Pedestrians will also face disruptions; the lower lane of Avenue Princesse Grace will be off-limits to non-accredited pedestrians, who will be redirected to the upper sidewalk or Mareterra.
The same restrictions will apply to Boulevard Louis II during the Sunday afternoon closure, modifying usual pedestrian flows.
Public transport services are adjusting to these security measures.
Bus Line 5 will terminate at Place des Moulins instead of the hospital, while Line 6 will be redirected to Saint-Roman.
Additionally, the Bateau Bus service will be suspended entirely over the two days, resuming its shuttle service only on Monday, June 9.
Authorities have indicated that these exceptional measures will remain flexible, adaptable to ongoing security requirements, reflecting Monaco's commitment to hosting these significant concurrent events.
