Monaco's Carlo App Introduces Annual Spending Cap for Users
Starting April 1, 2025, the cashback application Carlo will limit annual spending per merchant to €3,000, impacting less than 9% of its users.
The Carlo application, a cashback initiative designed to enhance local consumption in Monaco, will implement a significant operational change from April 1, 2025. The Princely Government has announced a new annual spending limit of €3,000 per merchant, as detailed in a recent communication to users.
This decision aims to ensure the program's sustainability and expand its accessibility to a broader user base while optimizing public financing.
Carlo's team indicated that this measure will primarily affect a small fraction of its users, with estimates suggesting less than 9% will encounter the new limit.
Despite the introduction of this cap, the Carlo app will continue to function without restrictions for the majority of its users across all partnering merchants.
The change introduces a structured limit where financial benefits will be capped at €3,000 annually for each business frequented by users.
The Carlo team emphasized that users will still enjoy full access to participating merchants, but financial incentives will be capped at this threshold.
To assist users in adjusting to the new system, the Carlo app will implement a proactive notification system.
Users will receive alerts as they approach the spending limit at any given merchant, informing them of the remaining amount available for use through the application.
This shift reflects an effort to balance the needs of users, merchants, and public partners while maintaining Carlo's primary goal of providing a seamless and beneficial experience, as well as ensuring sustained support for local businesses.
