Philippe Collin Presents Theatrical Adaptation of 'Léon Blum, une vie héroïque' in Nice
The adaptation merges historical narratives with participatory art, featuring a diverse group of performers and community engagement.
Philippe Collin, a prominent journalist and radio producer, is set to present the theatrical adaptation of his acclaimed podcast 'Léon Blum, une vie héroïque' at the Théâtre National de Nice on Saturday.
Known for his engaging storytelling, Collin has effectively transitioned from podcasting to live performance, collaborating with Charles Berling, director of the national stage Châteauvallon-Liberté, to create a unique event that combines elements of theater, music, and community involvement.
'Léon Blum, une vie héroïque' is an adaptation derived from one of Collin’s most listened-to podcasts, which has now been transformed into a live performance that embraces participation from a diverse array of artists—drawing in musicians, dancers, and amateur actors alongside a choir.
This theatrical piece aims to reflect on contemporary frustrations and historical hopes through a multi-part format.
The event will commence at 14:00 in the 'La Cuisine' auditorium of the Théâtre National de Nice, featuring a scheduled interval at 17:00 for a community dance, followed by the second act at 18:00. The performance is expected to conclude with a republican banquet around 21:30, integrating both pre-ordered meals and attendees' picnics into the communal experience.
Tickets are priced at 35 euros, with concessions available.
In addition to this theatrical endeavor, Philippe Collin is also launching 'Les Résistantes' in book form, which expands upon themes initially explored in a prior podcast series.
This work highlights women who resisted Nazi occupation during World War II, including figures such as Geneviève de Gaulle and Lucie Aubrac, addressing underrepresented narratives of female involvement in resistance movements.
A television adaptation of this series, featuring four episodes, will be released on the France TV platform and broadcasted on France 5 starting April 13.
Furthermore, Collin's ongoing podcast series, 'Face à l’Histoire,' continues with its latest installment, '1945. Les déportés.' This eight-episode series commemorates the 80th anniversary of the liberation of concentration camps by focusing on the experiences of three French deportees: Edmond Michelet, Gisèle Guillemot, and Denise Kahn.
The series aims to educate listeners about the diversity of victims who suffered under the Nazi regime, documenting their poignant stories as the last survivors dwindle.
All episodes are accessible via the Radio France app and the France Inter website.
