Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the 6th Summit of the European Political Community in Tirana, Albania, on May 17, 2025. The summit convened heads of state and government from across Europe, along with leaders from major European institutions, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Council of Europe, and NATO.
The gathering focused on critical issues of stability, security, and cooperation on the continent, aiming to strengthen the political dialogue among European nations, both EU members and non-members, in response to shared challenges.
During the summit, Prince Albert participated in a roundtable discussion entitled 'Competitiveness, Energy, and Connectivity.' He emphasized the importance of multilateralism and regional cooperation in addressing current crises, particularly those concerning security and energy transition.
The Prince highlighted Monaco’s ongoing efforts to reduce dependency on external energy supplies by advancing the development of renewable energy sources.
In addition to the roundtable, Prince Albert II engaged in discussions with prominent leaders, including Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament; Edi Rama, Prime Minister of Albania; and
António Costa, President of the European Council.
These discussions included topics such as the relationship between Monaco and the European Union, as well as mutual interests like environmental conservation and ocean preservation.
The Prince also acknowledged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming Monaco’s support for Ukraine amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
