Monaco's Prince Albert II offers support in the wake of devastating California fires, emphasizing losses and courage of emergency responders.
On Friday, January 10, 2025, Prince Albert II of Monaco sent a letter expressing compassion and solidarity to U.S. President
Joe Biden concerning the devastating wildfires currently impacting California.
These fires have resulted in 24 fatalities, left thousands homeless, and destroyed over 12,000 structures, according to reports.
In the letter, Prince Albert II conveyed his condolences and support: 'I am deeply moved by the tragic consequences of the multiple wildfires ravaging California.
The human and material losses are devastating.
On behalf of my family and the people of Monaco, I wish to express our solidarity and compassion to the victims, the homeless, and all those affected by these fires.'
The Prince also paid tribute to the efforts of firefighters and rescue teams, stating, 'I would like to commend the incredible work of the firefighters and rescue teams, whose courage and unwavering determination have saved lives.
Rest assured, Mr. President, of our deep solidarity in this difficult time.'
This expression of solidarity marks the second occasion this month that Prince Albert II has reached out to the United States.
Earlier in January, following the deadly vehicle-ramming attack in New Orleans during New Year's celebrations, which resulted in 14 deaths and dozens of injuries, the Prince also sent a letter of condolences to President Biden.
In that message, he condemned the act of violence and conveyed the support of the Monégasque people to the families of the victims and the people of the United States.
