Footage released by MotoGP shows the bike striking one of its cameras before landing near an operator identified as Joao, who narrowly dodged the machine in a near-miss incident and walked away unharmed.
Balaton Park is hosting its first MotoGP event since 1992 and recently underwent safety updates, though the incident has renewed scrutiny over track design and barrier placements.
The crash occurred during Q2 qualifying, overshadowing a record-breaking performance by Ducati’s Marc Marquez, who secured pole position with a lap time of one minute thirty-six point five one eight seconds.
