Alexis Beka Beka Signs with Belgian Club La Louvière After Overcoming Personal Struggles

Following a challenging two-year period marked by mental health struggles, the former OGC Nice midfielder Alexis Beka Beka has joined La Louvière in Belgium's top tier.
Alexis Beka Beka, a former midfielder for OGC Nice, has officially signed a two-year contract with La Louvière, a club newly promoted to Belgium's Jupiler Pro League, as announced on Wednesday, June 12, 2025. The 24-year-old player had previously faced significant personal challenges, including a suicide attempt in September 2023, during which he contemplated ending his life by jumping off the Magnan viaduct while with OGC Nice.

Fortunately, he did not go through with this and received support from his former club throughout his recovery journey.

After being released by OGC Nice in August 2024, Beka Beka expressed a desire to return to his former team, Caen, where he began to rebuild his career.

He played with Caen's reserve team and made his competitive return in February 2025.

Beka Beka's signing with La Louvière had been anticipated for several days before its official announcement.

Recently, on social media, he expressed gratitude towards the management of Caen and credited them for helping him reconnect with football.

"You reached out to me," he wrote.

"Today, a new chapter opens for me.

I move towards new horizons with immense gratitude and a strong desire to continue growing.

You have enabled the person I am to advance and rebuild.

I will be forever grateful."

Beka Beka is best remembered for his significant contribution to OGC Nice, particularly for a remarkable strike that secured a victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs in August 2022, sending the team into European competition.

His return to professional football marks a significant milestone in his recovery process and career resurgence.
