Carlos Alcaraz and Guinard-Arneodo Triumph at the 2025 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters
The prestigious tournament concluded with significant victories for Carlos Alcaraz in singles and the Franco-Monegasque duo in doubles.
The 118th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters concluded on April 13, 2025, with noteworthy achievements that included Carlos Alcaraz's first singles title at the iconic tournament and an emotional win for the Monegasque pairing of Romain Arneodo and Manuel Guinard in doubles.
In attendance were Prince Albert II, Princess Charlène, and Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, who celebrated the live finals amidst inclement weather conditions atypical for the season.
The final match in singles featured Alcaraz, ranked among the elite in men’s tennis, against Italy's Lorenzo Musetti.
Musetti initiated the match strongly, winning the first set 6-3 and appearing poised to take the victory.
However, Alcaraz adjusted his strategy and elevated his performance, ultimately winning the next two sets decisively at 6-1 and 6-0, concluding the match in a total of 1 hour and 47 minutes.
This victory marked Alcaraz’s first title in Monte-Carlo and his sixth Masters 1000 title overall, enhancing his career tally to 18 titles, all achieved by the age of 21. Alcaraz's triumph follows in the footsteps of Rafael Nadal, who also made headlines at this tournament two decades prior.
Despite his loss, Lorenzo Musetti's performance earned him a position in the top 11 of the ATP rankings, reflecting his growing capabilities as he competes with the world's best players.
In doubles, Romain Arneodo and Manuel Guinard made headlines, achieving a remarkable victory that resonated deeply within the Monegasque community.
Having received a wildcard entry, the pair eliminated the fifth-seeded team of Granollers and Zeballos prior to reaching the final.
In a dramatic showdown against the British duo of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, Arneodo and Guinard lost the first set 6-1 but rallied to save two match points in a tightly contested second set, ultimately winning in a super tie-break.
This win not only marks a historic moment for the duo but also highlights Arneodo as the first player representing Monaco to win a title at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.
Guinard's victory adds to the French legacy at the tournament, following the successes of compatriots Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in 2016.
