Internal Investigation Launched at 20 Minutes Following Accusations of Transphobia Against CEO
The online news outlet 20 Minutes addresses serious allegations against its CEO, Ronan Dubois, as two unions voice concerns over alleged discriminatory behavior.
The online media outlet 20 Minutes has initiated an internal investigation into the conduct of its CEO, Ronan Dubois, who has been accused of transphobic behavior towards a colleague.
This development was communicated to staff in a message from the management on May 30, 2025.
The investigation comes in response to allegations made by two press unions, SNJ-CGT and SNME-CFDT, which detailed an incident purportedly occurring on May 23. In their statement, the unions characterized Dubois' remarks as transphobic and sexist during a negotiation meeting at the company.
They reported that Dubois allegedly mocked Lise, a union delegate, by imitating her in an effeminate voice and labeling her a "clown" in front of colleagues and union representatives.
In the aforementioned message to employees, the management firmly denied any discriminatory or transphobic intent on Dubois' part.
The investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the Labor Inspection and the Retirement and Occupational Health Insurance Fund (Carsat).
Management emphasized the importance of responsibility and caution among staff in light of the accusations, urging them to approach the situation with prudence.
Founded in 2002, 20 Minutes transitioned from being France’s last free distribution newspaper to a fully digital platform in September 2024.
