Interpol Arrests 20 in International Crackdown on Child Exploitation
A coordinated operation disrupts networks involved in the production and distribution of child pornography across multiple continents.
On June 6, 2025, Interpol announced the arrest of 20 individuals as part of a major international operation targeting child pornography across 12 countries, primarily in the Americas and Europe.
The operation stemmed from efforts initiated by Spanish law enforcement agencies in late 2024.
According to Interpol, specialized agents conducted online patrols, identifying instant messaging groups dedicated to the sharing of child sexual exploitation imagery.
The agency reported that among the suspects arrested in Spain, seven included a healthcare professional accused of purchasing explicit images from minors in Eastern Europe, along with a teacher charged with the possession and distribution of child pornography across various online platforms.
In Latin America, law enforcement apprehended 10 additional suspects across seven targeted countries, including three arrests in El Salvador and one teacher in Panama.
The operation also led to arrests in other European countries and the United States.
Investigators conducted searches that resulted in the seizure of computers, mobile phones, tablets, and digital storage devices.
Interpol indicated that beyond the 20 arrests made, 68 additional suspects have been identified, and supplementary investigations are ongoing worldwide.
Information collected during this operation has been shared with authorities in 28 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
