Monaco Municipality Strengthens Support for Youth Initiatives

Launch of Early Childhood Event and Youth Volunteer Team to Enhance Local Engagement
On May 5, at a press conference held at the Espace Parents of the Foyer Sainte Dévote, the Municipality of Monaco unveiled several initiatives aimed at promoting youth and early childhood engagement.

Mayor Georges Marsan and Chloé Boscagli, Deputy in charge of Youth, detailed the existing programs and services available to families and children.

Monaco currently offers 13 early childhood facilities which provide a total of 400 places, staffed by 190 personnel in the Early Childhood and Family Service.

The Monte Carlo nursery recently underwent renovations and is set to reopen on January 16, 2025. The Early Childhood and Family Service coordinates the operations of eight nurseries, a developmental garden for children aged 2 to 3 years, three micro-nurseries, and a family nursery, catering to the youngest residents throughout the year with specialized and trained staff.

Among the initiatives announced is the inaugural Early Childhood Day, scheduled for Saturday, May 17, from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM at the Princess Antoinette Park under the patronage of Princess Charlène.

This free event will feature interactions with professionals in the sector and showcase the educational offerings available in Monégasque nurseries and the Mini-Club at Larvotto.

The day will also highlight various professions necessary for the operation of these care facilities, including nursery staff, administrative roles, and technical support personnel.

In conjunction with this event, the municipality introduced 'A Sqadra'—which translates to 'the team' in Monégasque—comprising a group of young volunteers participating in the organization of community events.

This initiative arises from the seventh edition of the Junior Community Project, reflecting youth input from local students, including Wassim Meddah, a young college attendee.

The primary mission of A Sqadra will be to assist in the preparations for the Early Childhood Day.

To join A Sqadra, candidates must be aged between 12 and 21 and either reside in or attend school in Monaco.

Applications are open until May 10, 2025, via email at jeunesse@mairie.mc.

These new initiatives align with the municipality's strategy to cater to the needs of various age groups, featuring a structured event for families with young children while providing civic engagement opportunities for adolescents and young adults.

This approach parallels other youth engagement projects in Monaco, such as the activities of the Monaco Guides and Scouts, which contribute to environmental and community initiatives.

Additional events are also planned this spring as part of the Junior Community Project, including the Bricks Academy on June 6, the Splash Party on June 18, and the Street Art Challenge in June.
