Murder Investigation Set in Iconic Eiffel Tower

Murder Investigation Set in Iconic Eiffel Tower

New French crime drama explores a murder mystery against the backdrop of Paris’s most famous monument.
France 3 has launched a new crime drama titled 'Le Crime de la tour Eiffel', directed by Julien Seri.

The series centers on a murder investigation that unfolds within the Eiffel Tower, which has captivated audiences for over a century since its completion in 1889. The monument, designed by Gustave Eiffel and celebrated during the 1889 World’s Fair, is the most visited paid monument worldwide and has become a symbol of Paris.

The narrative begins on the night of July 14, when the body of a young YouTuber known for his historical content is discovered on the first level of the tower during a fireworks display.

The incident raises questions about how the crime was committed unnoticed amidst the chaos of the celebrations, as national attention is fixed on the landmark.

The lead character, Captain Laura Giordano, portrayed by actress Flore Bonaventura, grapples with the recent death of her partner while she investigates the murder.

She is compelled to collaborate with a newcomer in Paris, Mathieu Bellanger, played by Benoît Michel.

As the investigation progresses, the duo uncovers lesser-known aspects of the Eiffel Tower's history during World War II.

Bonaventura remarked on the unique experience of filming at the Eiffel Tower, highlighting access to previously undisclosed locations, including underground tunnels.

The storyline intricately weaves elements of historical memory with the present-day mystery.

The show captures the high-energy direction of Julien Seri, known for his fast-paced storytelling and action sequences, requiring actors to adapt to his dynamic filming style.

Bonaventura noted the challenges of performing action scenes for the first time, highlighting her dedication to authenticity in her portrayal as a police officer.

The potential for further installments has been hinted at, with Bonaventura indicating that the chemistry between the lead characters opened up possibilities for future stories.

The show is set to be broadcast on Saturday at 21:05 on France 3, drawing interest from both domestic and international audiences.

Alongside her current project, Bonaventura is involved in upcoming productions, including a daily series for TF1 and Netflix, and another series titled 'Rien ne t’efface,' featuring a notable cast.

The actress expressed a desire to take on diverse roles and challenges in her career, illustrating her commitment to exploring new artistic avenues.
