New Exhibition 'AGORA' Launches at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco
The exhibition highlights the museum's public programs and features collections and contemporary works until May 2025.
The Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM) has inaugurated a new exhibition titled 'AGORA' at the Villa Sauber, which will run until May 4, 2025. This exhibition builds on earlier projects, following two previous laboratory exhibitions in 2015 and 2018 that explored different dimensions of museum practices and definitions.
'AGORA' focuses on illuminating the NMNM's public programs that prioritize artists and education.
The exhibition invites visitors to perceive the museum as a 'laboratory' where its core missions—including collecting, studying, disseminating, producing, preserving, and transmitting—are subject to contemplation, experimentation, and innovation.
Featured in the exhibition are works acquired since 2017 through the 'Apprentis collectionneurs' program.
These contemporary pieces are displayed alongside the museum's heritage collections, allowing for a dialogue between historical and modern art.
Additionally, the exhibition highlights the recent creations of resident artists Léna Durr and Éléonore False.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the NMNM is undergoing a significant structural transformation at the Villa Sauber.
This provides an opportunity to assess the museum’s distinctive and tailored educational programs, which include initiatives like 'La collection voyageuse' and 'Le Nouveau Musée Numérique.' Ongoing workshops will also showcase the work of Léa Collet, who is currently in residence.
Moreover, the studio smarin’s project 'Écoletopie' will be presented as a mediation salon, further promoting educational engagement.
The exhibition features a series of encounters, projections, and performances organized in an agora designed by Olivier Vadrot, located on the ground floor of the Villa.
