Princess Charlene Awards Oliver Rowland as Best Driver at Monaco E-Prix Gala
British driver recognized at exclusive gala event marking ten years of Formula E in Monaco.
The Monaco E-Prix concluded with a prestigious gala event held at the Hôtel de Paris, where British driver Oliver Rowland of the Nissan team received the 'Best Driver' trophy from Princess Charlene.
This event celebrated a historic milestone—ten years of Formula E racing in Monaco—and featured the unprecedented organization of two races on Saturday and Sunday.
Oliver Rowland secured the highest cumulative points over the weekend, winning the race on Saturday and finishing second on Sunday.
In recognition of his performance, he was awarded the newly established 'Albert II of Monaco' trophy, named after the reigning Monaco Sovereign, which honors the driver with the most points accumulated during the event.
Princess Charlene, representing her husband Prince Albert II, has been an enthusiastic supporter of the E-Prix and commended the innovation brought forth by the series.
In previous years, she introduced her children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, to the sport, further highlighting the family's connection to Formula E.
During the gala, Alejandro Agag, the founder of Formula E, and Jeff Dodds, the CEO of the series, underscored the significance of the Monaco circuit in the global championship.
They were joined by Michel Boeri, president of the Automobile Club de Monaco, who affirmed the circuit's vital role in the series' history and success.
Oliver Rowland's relationship with the Monaco circuit is notable, having previously claimed victory in the Formula 2 race there in 2017, a year that also saw Charles Leclerc crowned champion of that series.
Rowland has expressed his fondness for the Monaco circuit, describing it as one of his favorite racing venues.
The event wrapped up with Rowland's family joining the royal family on the podium to celebrate his achievements.
