The integration of SmartSpeed AI module significantly improves image resolution and reduces examination times.
The Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHPG) has initiated a digital transformation by integrating the SmartSpeed artificial intelligence module, aimed at enhancing the performance of its magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services.
This advancement is expected to considerably reduce examination times while increasing image quality, leading to more rapid and accurate diagnostics.
In particular, the new tool will play a critical role in cases of suspected strokes, aiding in sequences such as angio MRI for diagnosing stenosis or occlusion of distal arterioles, as well as ASL sequences for evaluating brain tissue perfusion and detecting non-perfused areas.
By shortening the response times for stroke care, it aims to improve patient prognoses significantly.
The innovative module was acquired and put into service in December 2024, with funding provided by a generous donation from Dmitry Rybolovlev.
The official inauguration took place on March 12, 2025, at the MRI department of CHPG.
Dmitry Rybolovlev expressed his gratitude towards CHPG and its director, Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, for allowing him to contribute to the modernisation of the hospital's technical equipment.
As a trained physician with an interest in new technologies, Rybolovlev highlighted the importance of rapid and accurate diagnoses in healthcare, noting the enhanced capacity of Monaco to detect various serious medical conditions, including strokes.
Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, the hospital's director, indicated that the innovative solution, made possible by Rybolovlev’s generosity, would enable the hospital to treat a larger number of patients by reducing waiting times for MRI scans and optimizing patient pathways.
She stated that this acquisition aligns perfectly with the hospital's commitment to improving patient experiences.
Government Advisor Minister Christophe Robino commented on the considerable prospects created by artificial intelligence in predictive medicine and early detection of pathologies.
He emphasized that this strategic investment, facilitated by Rybolovlev, reflects Monaco's commitment to excellence in healthcare that combines technological innovation with compassionate care.
The SmartSpeed module adds a significant asset to the imaging department at CHPG, complementing the existing MRI technology, which has been equipped since 2021 with High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), available at only two medical centers in the France-Monaco area for the non-invasive treatment of uterine fibroids.
