Monaco Yacht Club to Compete in 2025 Admiral's Cup
Historic participation marks a new chapter for Monégasque sailing under the leadership of Pierre Casiraghi and Peter Harrison.
For the first time in its history, the Yacht Club de Monaco (Y.C.M.) will participate in the Admiral’s Cup, one of the world's most prestigious sailing competitions.
This ambitious challenge will see the collaboration of Team Malizia and the Jolt boats, helmed by Pierre Casiraghi and Peter Harrison respectively.
The event is scheduled to take place in Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, from July 17 to August 1, 2025.
The Y.C.M.'s commitment to this significant event was initiated by Peter Harrison, the owner of the Jolt boats and an active member of the club.
The project quickly gained support from Pierre Casiraghi, Vice-President of Y.C.M. and founder of Team Malizia.
Casiraghi expressed his excitement, stating, "When he proposed to participate in the Admiral’s Cup with the Jolt boats, I immediately accepted this incredible challenge.
It’s Monaco's first participation, so we are very excited to represent the Yacht Club and the Principality in this legendary cup."
For the 2025 edition, the Y.C.M. plans to field two boats: the TP52 Jolt 3, skippered by Peter Harrison, and the Carkeek 40 Jolt 6, led by Pierre Casiraghi.
Casiraghi emphasized the importance of consistency in this competition, stating that each race must be approached as a new challenge.
The red and white team, composed of renowned sailors such as Boris Herrmann, Will Harris, and Cole Brauer, aims to leverage high-level expertise to face tough international competition.
Boris Herrmann, just returned from the Vendée Globe, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming Admiral’s Cup, saying, "I am eager to return to crew with nine or ten people on board.
With Pierre Casiraghi at the helm, it will be a significant event."
The Admiral’s Cup 2025 marks a long-awaited return after more than 20 years of absence.
This prestigious competition, often referred to as the unofficial World Cup of offshore racing, will see more than 15 teams representing legendary clubs, including the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and the New York Yacht Club, race in Cowes.
The Y.C.M. will face off against Australia, the reigning champions.
Prince Albert II, President of the Y.C.M., has expressed his support for the sailors, remarking, "We have followed Boris Herrmann’s journey in the Vendée Globe with pride.
This project embodies our sporting vision, inspiring young generations to push their limits." Monaco is preparing to take on this significant challenge with passion and determination.
