Emmanuel Macron to Undertake State Visit to Monaco on June 7-8, 2025

The first visit of a sitting French President to Monaco in over forty years emphasizes the longstanding ties between the two nations.
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte are set to make an official state visit to Monaco from June 7 to 8, 2025. This visit marks a significant diplomatic event, as it is the first of its kind by a sitting French president since François Mitterrand's visit in January 1984.

President Macron and his wife will be hosted by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène at the Prince's Palace in Monaco.

The visit is designed to celebrate the strong and historic bonds between France and Monaco, according to the Princely Palace.

The ceremonial program will consist of official events along with economic and environmental discussions.

The agenda for June 7 includes a private audience between Macron and Prince Albert II, during which they are expected to discuss bilateral issues and shared challenges facing both nations.

Following this meeting, a state dinner is scheduled to take place in the Throne Room of the Palace, inviting select guests, signaling a high level of diplomacy and formality.

Macron and Brigitte are anticipated to stay overnight in Monaco, most likely at the Hotel de Paris, a luxury establishment located in Monte Carlo, although hotel officials noted that they could not confirm this for security reasons.

The following day, June 8, President Macron will visit SeaWergie, a Monaco-based company specializing in thalassothermy—an innovative technology that utilizes seawater for thermal energy, serving several buildings in the Principality.

This visit underscores Monaco's commitment to renewable energy solutions, particularly those related to marine resources.

Simultaneously, Brigitte Macron will join Princess Charlène for the annual Water Safety Day event, organized by the Princess Charlène Foundation.

This initiative aims to educate children on water safety practices to prevent drowning incidents.

The state visit coincides with the Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF) occurring in Monaco, focusing on sustainable economic practices concerning ocean resources.

The event will conclude with a luncheon featuring heads of state, government leaders, and representatives from royal families, including Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

Following the conclusion of the forum, President Macron and Prince Albert II will proceed to Nice for the commencement of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference, scheduled from June 9 to June 13. This international forum will address key global maritime environmental challenges.

The state visit reflects Monaco's heightened emphasis on environmental issues and its ongoing commitment to strengthening Franco-Monegasque relations.

This diplomatic engagement follows Macron's prior visit to Monaco in January 2025 for the funeral of Didier Guillaume, the former Minister of State.
