Prince Albert II to Celebrate 20 Years of Reign with Special Reception for Monégasques
A historic event will take place on July 19, 2025, highlighting the relationship between the royal family and the people of Monaco.
Prince Albert II of Monaco will commemorate his 20th anniversary on the throne by hosting a special reception for the citizens of Monaco on July 19, 2025. The event, which will include a cocktail gathering from 7 pm to 10:30 pm on the Place du Palais, aims to strengthen the ties between the princely family and the principality’s residents.
Since his accession on April 6, 2005, Prince Albert II has led Monaco through significant economic growth, with the country's gross domestic product (GDP) reaching 9.4 billion euros in 2023, representing a nearly 50% increase over the past decade.
Albert has emphasized the dual commitment to wealth and virtue, as expressed in his inaugural speech in July 2005.
In addition to economic progress, Prince Albert II has displayed a strong commitment to environmental issues, founding the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation in 2006, focusing on sustainability and ecological awareness.
As Monaco gears up for the celebrations, the year 2025 is particularly noteworthy, as it also marks the 60th birthday of Princess Stéphanie, the younger sister of Prince Albert II. Despite the absence of large-scale festivities to honor his 20 years of reign, due to the family’s mourning for the late Prince Rainier III, who passed away in 2005, the prince opted for a more personal and direct celebration with the residents of Monaco.
This reception follows another significant event within the principality—the Monaco E-Prix 2025, where the city provided a platform for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship to host two races.
This occasion featured notable participants, including Prince Albert II's niece, Princess Charlène, who actively engaged with the winning drivers, accentuating the royal family's continued involvement in sporting events and its connection to contemporary Monaco.
Further details about the logistics and access to the special celebration on July 19 will be provided in due course, ensuring that the citizens of Monaco can partake in this historic occasion.
