Villa Kérylos Nominated for France's 2025 Favorite Monument

The architectural marvel in Beaulieu-sur-Mer aims to represent the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in a national competition.
The Villa Kérylos, an architectural gem inspired by ancient Greece and located in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, has been officially nominated to represent the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA) region in the prestigious ‘Monument préféré des Français’ competition for the year 2025. This recognition highlights one of the most remarkable architectural treasures along the French coastline.

From May 6 to May 23, the public is invited to participate in the regional voting through the France Télévisions website, to support this Mediterranean masterpiece.

The Villa Kérylos competes directly with the Amphitheatre of Arles for the chance to represent the PACA region in the national phase of the contest.

The Villa Kérylos was the result of a passionate collaboration between Théodore Reinach, a renowned archaeologist and musicologist, and architect Emmanuel Pontremoli.

Constructed between 1902 and 1908, this exceptional residence overlooks the Mediterranean and serves as a remarkable reconstitution of a villa from ancient Greece.

What sets Villa Kérylos apart is the meticulous attention to detail in its design.

It is not merely an architectural reproduction but offers an immersive experience into the Hellenic world, complete with period-appropriate furniture, textiles, and even tableware, all created to match the aesthetic standards of the era.

Visitors to the Villa Kérylos can admire the exceptional furniture crafted by renowned artisans specifically for the monument.

The frescoes adorning its walls further illustrate extraordinary craftsmanship, featuring techniques directly inspired by ancient artistic practices.

The Villa Kérylos is one of five monuments managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux selected for the 2025 edition of the contest.

The monument that receives the most votes at the regional level will be announced during the program 'Le village préféré des Français' before moving on to the national finale.

This nomination presents an opportunity for admirers of this architectural jewel to contribute to its national recognition.
