Box 98 Opens in Monaco: A New Hub for Leisure Activities
The Box 98 complex features karting, bowling, arcade games, and a dining area, aiming to attract varied demographics in Monaco.
Box 98, a new leisure and sports complex covering more than 4,700 square meters, has officially opened in Monaco, offering an array of activities including karting, bowling, arcade games, and dining options.
The project, spearheaded by Clivio Piccione and his partners, aims to establish itself as a key entertainment venue in the region.
Located in the Fontvieille district, just steps away from the port and above a shopping center, Box 98's entrance features a striking black and red facade.
The space underwent significant renovations, transforming the former automobile museum into a vibrant leisure hub for both residents and visitors.
According to Piccione, the facility will be fully operational by April 1, 2025, with work completing just before the opening.
The karting circuit, a major attraction, boasts a unique design where 90% of the track is elevated, marking it as a world first.
Designed by Paolo Gagliardini in collaboration with PGK Design, this 400-meter track emulates the famed Monaco Grand Prix circuit.
The configuration includes a variety of turns and sections to enhance the racing experience.
Although karts can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h, these speeds will be regulated by technicians to ensure safety and enjoyment for all participants.
The decision to use electric karts aims to reduce noise and environmental impact.
In addition to karting, Box 98 hosts a plethora of arcade games and entertainment activities located near and under the karting circuit.
The arcade area includes numerous colorful gaming stations reminiscent of theme parks.
A digital currency system will be implemented, allowing visitors to accumulate points for prizes through various activities.
Alongside the arcade offerings are four bowling lanes under construction, set to add to the diverse range of entertainment options available.
Dining will be provided by Costa, and additional features include a karaoke space, a private event room, and a display dedicated to automotive icons with memorabilia from notable racing personalities.
As Clivio Piccione notes, the complex is designed to attract diverse audiences, including families, tourists, and local residents.
The financial investment in Box 98 is reported to be in the millions, with an anticipated annual revenue of between 1 and 1.5 million euros.
However, the initial operational period is confined to one year, subject to a review of its performance and viability in the evolving landscape of Fontvieille, especially with impending commercial redevelopment expected by 2029. Although uncertainties regarding the impact of such changes remain, the establishment aims to become a significant local attraction, bolstered by government support.
Operating hours for the complex are Tuesday to Thursday from 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM, Friday from 11:30 AM to midnight, Saturday from 10:00 AM to midnight, and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with karting sessions priced at 25 euros for eight minutes.
