Monaco Enhances Taxi Fleet with 28 Electric Vehicles for Summer Season

The Principality expands its eco-friendly taxi service to accommodate increasing visitor demand and major events.
As Monaco approaches the summer season, the government is reinforcing its taxi fleet with the introduction of 28 fully electric vehicles.

This initiative aims to address the expected influx of visitors and facilitate transportation during key events.

The additional seasonal taxis are set to start operating in April 2025, following a selection process initiated through a call for candidates published in October 2024 in the Journal de Monaco.

The taxi drivers selected will hold authorization to operate for a duration of six months.

These eco-taxis will be prominently identified by their white exteriors and will provide intra-city transport at a flat rate of €18, which excludes wait time and traffic considerations.

For trips to nearby communes, a flat rate of €25 will be applicable.

During peak times, as detected by an intelligent ride management system, the taxis will expand their operational range to cover transport to Menton and Nice Ville.

In addition to their regular services, these seasonal taxis will offer pre-booking options for passengers heading to the Nice Airport, Nice train station, or downtown Nice during major events.

Service will be available throughout the day during these occasions, with operations running from 5 AM to 9 AM during other parts of the season.

The deployment of the electric taxi fleet will occur in three phases: the first phase will see 8 vehicles in operation from April 1 through September 30, 2025; the second phase will add 10 more taxis from April 15 to October 15; and the final phase will introduce another 10 vehicles from May 1 to November 1. This staggered rollout ensures maximum coverage during the peak tourist season, which spans from May 1 to September 30. To maintain a constant service, 11 eco-taxis will operate during night hours from 9 PM to 5 AM, and at least 7 of these taxis will be available for booking 24/7 through the dedicated contact number +377 93 15 01 01.
