Monaco Launches Free Parental Workshops for Residents
The initiative provides support and resources for parents and prospective parents from April to June 2025.
In Monaco, the Service Petite Enfance & Familles, a branch of the municipal government, is set to launch a series of free workshops designed to support parents and prospective parents.
Scheduled to run from April to June 2025, these workshops, termed "Espaces Parents," will take place at the Foyer Sainte Dévote.
Participants are required to register in advance for these sessions, which aim to create an environment for dialogue, mutual support, and practical advice.
The program is tailored for residents of the Principality and encourages parents to engage in discussions about various aspects of parenting.
The workshops will feature sessions led by childhood professionals, including psychologists, pediatric nurses, and dietitians from the service.
Each session will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, typically scheduled for Tuesday evenings or Friday lunchtimes, focusing on specific topics often derived from common familial concerns.
Key themes to be addressed this trimester are as follows:
April 11: A sensitive yet significant topic, perinatal grief will be discussed, providing an essential platform for affected parents to share their experiences and begin the healing process.
April 15: A session on food discovery will offer practical advice from a dietitian on helping children explore flavors and textures at various developmental stages.
April 22: This session focuses on the "threenager" phase, a developmental stage faced by many parents of three-year-olds, aiming to educate parents on handling this transition smoothly.
April 29: Discussions will include the diversity of family models (adoption, assisted reproductive technologies, single-parenting, same-sex parenting).
Guidance will be provided on how to communicate these topics to children appropriately.
May 9: The postpartum period will be the focus, offering parents insight into the physical and emotional changes that occur after childbirth, along with strategies for managing this critical transition.
May 13: Families will be invited to engage their children’s five senses to enhance daily experiences into moments of discovery.
May 20: This session aims to assist parents in helping their children navigate emotions, particularly frustrations and anger, which are common in early childhood development.
May 27: Sleep difficulties will be addressed, exploring reasons behind sleep challenges in children and suggesting methods to facilitate better sleep routines.
June 6: A discussion on parental separation will focus on how to explain new family dynamics to children and maintain their emotional stability.
June 10: An engaging workshop will aim to tackle common mealtime conflicts, offering practical tips to create a calmer dining environment.
The final two sessions of the program will focus on key family life transitions: preparing for school on June 17, with guidance on helping children adjust, and managing sibling relationships on June 27, providing tools to promote harmony and reduce conflicts.
Additionally, the program will feature monthly psychomotricity workshops on Thursdays (April 22, May 15, June 12) with a dedicated professional, as well as parent-child play workshops every Wednesday morning until the end of June from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
All workshops will take place at Foyer Sainte Dévote, located at 3 rue Philibert Florence, and participation is free with prior registration.
