Cyril Linette Expected to be Appointed General Director for JO-2030
Edgar Grospiron confirms the search for a General Director is underway, with Cyril Linette poised for the role.
The upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled for 2030, to be hosted in Nice, could see Cyril Linette appointed as the General Director, according to reports.
Edgar Grospiron, the head of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Cojop), indicated that progress has been made in assembling his team.
Linette, a seasoned professional with a background in sports media and management, previously served as the Director of Sports at Canal+, and held leadership positions at L'Equipe from 2015 to 2018 and at PMU from 2018 to 2021. His candidacy follows a recent unsuccessful bid for the presidency of the Professional Football League (LFP), where he was defeated by Vincent Labrune in September.
Grospiron, during an event in Nice attended by Sports Minister Marie Barsacq, confirmed that a decision regarding the General Director is imminent.
He stated, 'Yes, I have found my General Director,' but emphasized the need for time to finalize appointments, stating, 'I am not alone in deciding; I propose candidates, and the executive bureau validates them.' Following discussions with Barsacq and Nice Mayor Christian Estrosi, Grospiron reiterated his commitment to adhere to the established vision for the Games, which aims to present a respectful and sustainable approach to this major international sporting event.
