Monaco's Firefighters Unveil New Insignia in Ceremony
A historic emblem presented to the Corps of Monaco's Firefighters marks a renewed commitment to service.
The Corps of Monaco's Firefighters officially presented its new insignia on May 19, 2023, during a ceremony held at the La Condamine rescue center.
The event was led by Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, the Chief of the Corps, and attended by members of the fire service.
The insignia was chosen and presented by H.S.H. Prince Albert II during the Sainte-Barbe celebration on December 4, 2022.
The Corps was founded in 1909 by Prince Albert I, who did not initially institute an insignia.
The first insignia was adopted during the Ascension of Prince Rainier III in 1949. A second insignia, which was similar to those used by French firefighters, was introduced by sovereign decree in 1958.
In recognition of the centenary of Prince Albert I’s passing in 2022, the Corps seized the opportunity to renew its insignia.
This initiative aims to reaffirm the Corps’ historical and identity roots while providing its members with a distinctive and meaningful emblem.
The new insignia symbolizes a centuries-old heritage and embodies the unwavering commitment of the Corps of Monaco's Firefighters to the Principality and the values that guide their service.
