Wissam Ben Yedder Faces Court for Allegations of Psychological Abuse
Former AS Monaco captain and current Sepahan SC player appears in Nice court to respond to charges related to his wife.
Wissam Ben Yedder, the former captain of AS Monaco and current player for Sepahan SC in Iran, appeared at the Palais de Justice in Nice on Wednesday afternoon.
Accompanied by his legal counsel, Me Hasna Louzé and Me Marie Roumiantseva, Ben Yedder attended a hearing concerning allegations of "psychological violence" against his wife.
The allegations from his spouse, with whom he is in the process of divorce, claim incidents of psychological abuse that occurred between February 2020 and February 2024. Ben Yedder has denied these claims.
Although a trial was initially scheduled for December 2024, it was postponed and proceeded on May 21, 2025, with both Ben Yedder and his wife present in court.
This legal proceedings follows Ben Yedder's earlier conviction in November 2024 in a separate case, where he was found guilty of sexual assault under intoxication, drunk driving, and refusal to comply with police orders related to incidents that took place in Cap d’Ail in early September.
He received a two-year suspended prison sentence and has appealed the decision.
Furthermore, Ben Yedder and his brother Sabri are under investigation for more serious charges, including rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault.
These allegations stem from an incident involving two women they met in Saint-Laurent-du-Var and are said to have occurred in a vacation rental apartment on Airbnb in Beausoleil.
Following their confrontation with the alleged victims, both brothers maintained their innocence.
The investigation has been completed, and the involved parties are awaiting a final report from the prosecution.
Ben Yedder's legal entanglements have resulted in a significant increase in his presence at the Nice courthouse as he navigates various accusations that could impact his career both on and off the field.
