Monaco to Introduce 27 New Public Housing Units by 2028
Announcement of additional public housing development in La Luciole neighborhood as part of broader housing strategy.
On April 30, 2025, the Conseil national of Monaco announced plans for the construction of 27 new public housing units at La Luciole, with completion expected by 2028. The development will include a private parking facility and will replace the existing villa Luciole located on rue Louis Aureglia in the Condamine district.
This project aligns with the government's broader initiative to tackle the housing shortage in the region, which also includes the planned construction of between 76 to 90 public housing units along avenue Hector Otto.
Maryse Battaglia, the chair of the housing commission for the Conseil national, expressed support for the initiative, noting that the La Luciole project represents a significant step towards addressing the existing deficit in public housing construction.
She emphasized that this development will enhance opportunities for local children to access the protected housing sector.
Thomas Brezzo, the president of the Conseil national, indicated that this project forms part of a larger commitment by the Monegasque government to improve the housing landscape in Monaco.
He stated that an updated national housing plan is expected to be presented by the end of Spring 2025. This anticipated plan is expected to outline the government's long-term housing ambitions for Monegasques in the coming years.
