Monaco Unveils EUROPA 2025 Stamp Celebrating Archaeological Discoveries
New stamp features the Caves of the Observatory, highlighting Monaco's ancient history and archaeological significance.
On May 9, at the Musée d’Anthropologie préhistorique in Monaco, the official presentation of the EUROPA 2025 stamp took place, attended by Mme Lara Terlizzi-Enza, Director of the Office des Émissions de Timbres-Poste (OETP), and Mme Elena Rossoni-Notter, Director of the Museum.
The theme selected for the 2025 edition by PostEurop focused on national archaeological discoveries.
In this context, the creation of the stamp involved close collaboration with the Musée d’Anthropologie préhistorique, highlighting the significance of the Caves of the Observatory.
This site is known for its human occupation dating from 250,000 to 20,000 years ago and showcases important archaeological findings from the Monegasque territory.
The stamp has been designed and engraved by the artist André Lavergne and printed using six-color intaglio printing techniques.
It bears a face value of €2.10, which corresponds to international postage for letters weighing under 20 grams.
A limited edition of 40,000 copies has been produced.
This stamp will be available at the Office des Timbres, the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies, and various post offices throughout Monaco.
The EUROPA stamp series, first launched in 1956, involves around sixty countries each year, centered around a common theme.
These stamps are highly sought after by collectors and are regarded as some of the most popular stamps worldwide.
