Theatrical Adaptation of 'Le Comte de Monte-Cristo' to Premiere in Monaco
Gabriel Laborde's production of 'Les Prisonniers du Château d’If' set for May 2025 at Théâtre des Muses, featuring an immersive set design.
A theatrical adaptation titled 'Les Prisonniers du Château d’If,' created by Gabriel Laborde, will be presented at the Théâtre des Muses in Monaco from May 15 to May 18, 2025. This adaptation is based on the classic novel 'Le Comte de Monte-Cristo' written by Alexandre Dumas and first published in 1846. The production focuses on the early years of the protagonist, Edmond Dantès, who is unjustly imprisoned in the Château d’If. During his incarceration, Dantès meets Abbé Faria, an intellectual prisoner who imparts knowledge and reveals a hidden secret, establishing a father-son-like bond that is central to the narrative.
Gabriel Laborde not only stars as Edmond Dantès but also serves as the director of the play.
Thibault Truffert takes on the role of Abbé Faria.
The set design features a minimalist approach, characterized by stone walls and straw on the floor, providing an immersive experience that reflects the atmosphere of early 19th-century dungeons.
This production is recommended for audiences aged 10 and older.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday, May 15; Friday, May 16; and Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 8:00 PM, with additional showings on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Ticket prices are set at €31, with a concession rate of €19 for attendees aged 12 to 18 and students.
