Cap-d'Ail Mayor Calls for Ban on OGC Nice Supporter Travel to Monaco Matches
Following disturbances linked to OGC Nice supporters, the mayor seeks to prohibit future away games in Monaco.
In the wake of disturbances caused by supporters of OGC Nice during a match against AS Monaco, Xavier Beck, the Mayor of Cap-d'Ail, has announced plans to request the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture to impose a ban on future travel by Nice supporters to matches in Monaco.
This request follows incidents that occurred on March 30, 2025, when the 108th derby between AS Monaco and OGC Nice ended with a 2-1 victory for Monaco.
On the day of the match, approximately 2,000 OGC Nice supporters gathered in the area, with many assembling at Marquet Beach in Cap-d'Ail before making their way to the Louis-II stadium.
This large gathering raised concerns among local authorities, particularly related to the use of flares that caused alarm within the neighborhood.
Mayor Beck expressed frustration over the supporters' behavior, stating that it has worsened each year, highlighting incidents where supporters discussed 'invading' Monaco while traveling through Cap-d'Ail.
He referenced the use of pyrotechnics and agricultural bombs causing disruption and posed safety risks.
As the supporters moved towards the stadium, they left behind debris, including remnants of pyrotechnics, waste, and broken glass in the vicinity.
This accumulation of litter and the reported behavior of the crowd have led Mayor Beck to advocate for stricter measures, specifically the prohibition of future travel by OGC Nice supporters for away matches in Monaco.
