Jannik Sinner Praises Loïs Boisson's Performance at Roland-Garros

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner impressed by French player Loïs Boisson's progress as she reaches the semifinals.
World No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner expressed admiration for 22-year-old French tennis player Loïs Boisson after her remarkable performance at Roland-Garros.

On June 4, 2025, Sinner remarked on Boisson’s impressive level of play, asserting that she 'deserves' her place in the semifinals.

Sinner, who has a history of training alongside Boisson at the same training center in Italy, commented, "The level of play she offers is incredible.

Very consistent, very clay-court styled with her forehand and lots of spin." He noted their recent practice session on the Philippe-Chatrier Court, where they exchanged shots in favorable weather conditions.

During the practice, Sinner observed Boisson's unique style, highlighting her physical strength and the high, heavily spun nature of her shots.

He stated, "It was a very regular warm-up against a different style of play, as the ball is rather high and very spun."

Sinner further elaborated on his past interactions with Boisson, recalling their time training together in Italy.

He mentioned that he saw her prior to the tournament at a gym in Jean-Bouin, where they discussed her feelings about receiving a wildcard for Roland-Garros, which she considered a special opportunity as a French player.

Commenting on Boisson's mindset on the court, Sinner described her as having an 'excellent mentality,' noting her calm demeanor during matches.

He also acknowledged Boisson's recovery from a knee surgery she underwent in 2024, which he believes has contributed positively to her confidence.

Boisson's quarterfinal victory against world No. 6 Mirra Andreeva, which ended with a score of 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, was characterized by Sinner as 'incredible' and as something the French tennis scene greatly needs—'something very new, very special.' In his post-match press conference, he stated, "She deserves to be in the place she occupies today, and we truly wish her the best for the future."

Looking ahead, Boisson is set to compete against world No. 2 Coco Gauff for a spot in the finals.
