Leïla Slimani, acclaimed Franco-Moroccan author and journalist, is scheduled to conduct a conference titled 'Écrire: apprivoiser l’obscurité' on March 31, 2025, at the Theatre des Variétés in Monaco.
The event is organized by the Prince Pierre Foundation and will explore themes of writing and solitude, culminating in a writing workshop for attendees.
Slimani first gained recognition with her debut novel, 'Dans le jardin de l’ogre,' published in 2014 by Gallimard, which was part of the Prince Pierre Foundation's 2015 Discovery Grant selection.
In addition to her literary pursuits, Slimani has made notable contributions to cinema, with her second novel, 'Chanson douce,' adapted into a film in 2019 featuring actors Karin Viard and Leïla Bekhti.
'Chanson douce' was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 2016 and the Grand Prix des Lectrices Elle in 2017. Following this success, she has published two additional novels with Gallimard: 'Le Pays des autres,' which received the Grand Prix de l’Héroïne Madame Figaro in 2020, and 'Regardez-nous danser.' Her latest work, 'J’emporterai le feu,' was released in January 2025.
