Meningitis Case Detected at Primary School in Nice: Preventive Measures Implemented
Authorities identify and treat approximately twenty contacts following diagnosis of meningitis in a school staff member.
A case of meningitis has been confirmed at L’École du Bois de Boulogne, a primary school in Nice, leading to the hospitalization of a municipal staff member.
In response to the contagious nature of the disease, a health alert protocol was activated over the weekend by the regional health agency (ARS) and the National Education Ministry.
The Rectorat of Nice reported that more than twenty contacts, including both adults and children, have been identified.
All individuals were contacted and prescribed preventive treatment.
Health officials are currently analyzing the strain of meningitis involved; based on these findings, it is possible that affected contacts may be invited to receive vaccinations.
An informational meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 31, at 4:30 PM at the school.
The inspector of the academic sector, along with a doctor and a nurse, is expected to attend to inform and reassure parents.
Additionally, a letter is being drafted by municipal services in Nice to update parents regarding the situation.
