Historic Ferrari F2001 Auction to Take Place During 2025 Monaco Grand Prix
Michael Schumacher's iconic Ferrari F2001, chassis 211, will be auctioned ahead of qualifying for the prestigious race.
The renowned Ferrari F2001, chassis 211, driven by legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s on May 24, 2025. This significant event will occur just minutes before the qualifying session for the Monaco Grand Prix, marking the first time a Formula 1 car has been put up for auction during the Grand Prix weekend in Monaco.
The Ferrari F2001 has a distinguished history within the sport.
Notably, Schumacher piloted this very chassis to victory at the 2001 Monaco Grand Prix.
That same season, with the F2001, he went on to secure his fourth World Championship title at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
This particular vehicle stands out as the only Ferrari driven by Schumacher to win at Monaco and to also claim a world championship in the same year.
Ahead of the auction, an exclusive exhibit will be available for guests of the F1 Paddock Club™ starting on May 23. The vehicle has been meticulously restored by Ferrari in 2024 and 2025, returning it to optimal operating condition.
The F2001 features a V10 engine capable of reaching 17,000 RPM, representing the peak of the collaboration between Schumacher and the renowned Ferrari team of Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, and Rory Byrne.
Proceeds from the auction will partially support the Keep Fighting Foundation, continuing the charitable legacy of Michael Schumacher.
While there has been no official estimate of the sale price, experts anticipate that this piece of automotive history may fetch a significant amount, contributing to the ongoing legacy of both Monaco and Schumacher.
In related news, Charles Leclerc is set to compete in his 150th Formula 1 race during the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix.
This milestone event will take place on April 6, 2025, at the Suzuka Circuit, where Leclerc will reflect on his journey since his debut in the 2018 Australian Grand Prix.
Leclerc, who joined Ferrari in 2019, has chosen to commemorate this achievement with a specially designed helmet featuring tributes to significant figures in his life, including his father and compatriot Jules Bianchi, whose legacy remains poignant at the Suzuka Circuit due to his tragic accident there in 2014. Leclerc expressed that the Grand Prix carries special significance for him, intertwining his personal memories with the professional milestones of his career.
