Julia Pereira de Sousa Wins Bronze at World Snowboard Cross Championships
The 2018 Olympic silver medalist secured a podium finish in St. Moritz, Switzerland, ahead of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics.
Julia Pereira de Sousa, a 23-year-old snowboarder from Isola 2000, claimed the bronze medal in the women's snowboard cross at the 2025 World Championships held in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
This achievement comes as Pereira prepares for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
The event took place on March 28, 2025, where Pereira finished behind Italian Michaela Moioli, the 2018 Olympic champion, and British snowboarder Charlotte Bankes, the 2021 world champion.
Pereira's bronze marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first French athlete to medal individually at the World Championships since Chloé Trespeuch earned silver in 2017 in Sierra Nevada.
This recent podium finish is particularly poignant for Pereira, who lost her father two months prior to the event.
In her remarks following the race, she expressed the emotional weight of the victory, noting a connection to her late father during her performance.
The French snowboard team will also compete in the mixed team event, where they are expected to be strong contenders, fielding two pairs for the competition.
