New requirement aims to regulate recreational fishing activities in Monegasque waters amidst rising illegal practices.
In response to an increase in illegal recreational fishing, the government of Monaco has introduced a new regulatory measure known as the "Annual Fishing Declaration." This declaration is now a prerequisite for individuals wishing to engage in recreational fishing within Monegasque waters.
The declaration must be submitted to the Directorate of Maritime Affairs either via postal mail or electronically, in accordance with the stipulations of Article O.244-8 of the Maritime Code.
Participants can obtain this declaration through various means:
- Via the official website of the Princely Government, which provides access to necessary forms and information.
- By sending a request via email to marine@gouv.mc.
- In person at the Directorate of Maritime Affairs, located at 20, Quai de l’Hirondelle in Monaco, where office hours are from 9:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday.
The Annual Fishing Declaration is designed to be simple and user-friendly, allowing adults and children to participate in this leisure activity within designated fishing zones.
It is valid for one year and serves to identify individuals engaging in fishing activities.
Additionally, a marine map detailing these authorized fishing zones, along with a code of conduct for recreational fishing from the shore, will be provided to the declarant to ensure awareness of the applicable regulations.
For further inquiries regarding the declaration and fishing regulations, individuals may contact the Directorate of Maritime Affairs at the phone number 98 98 22 80.
