Monaco Implements New Fishing Regulations to Combat Illegal Angling
In response to rising concerns over illegal recreational fishing, the Principality of Monaco introduces a mandatory fishing declaration for anglers.
The Principality of Monaco has instituted a new measure aimed at addressing the increasing incidence of illegal recreational fishing within its waters.
Effective immediately, all individuals wishing to engage in line fishing in Monacan territory are now required to obtain an "Annual Fishing Declaration." This initiative is part of a broader strategy to preserve marine resources and regulate coastal activities in the region.
The procedure for obtaining this declaration has been designed for simplicity and accessibility.
Fishing enthusiasts can apply for the document via the online portal of the Princely Government, by submitting an electronic request to marine@gouv.mc, or directly at the Directorate of Maritime Affairs located on Quai de l'Hirondelle.
The declaration is more than a mere bureaucratic formality; it symbolizes a commitment to responsible fishing practices.
Valid for one year, each declaration comes with a detailed nautical chart indicating areas where fishing is permitted, as well as a Code of Conduct.
This educational approach aims to raise awareness among both adults and children about responsible angling practices and the importance of protecting the marine ecosystem.
