Region Sud to Continue Uniform Experimentation in Schools for 2025/2026
Following a review of state support, the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region will pursue its school uniform trial after initial withdrawal due to financial concerns.
The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, also known as Region Sud, has announced its decision to continue the experimentation of school uniforms in its educational establishments for the academic year 2025/2026. This decision marks a reversal from its previous stance where the region opted to withdraw due to a lack of financial support.
The regional government recognized the need to reassess its position after receiving clarification on the state's commitment to the initiative.
Consequently, the region initiated consultations involving key stakeholders, including students, parents, and school principals, to gather their inputs and concerns regarding the uniform policy.
Renaud Muselier, the President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, indicated that based on positive feedback from these consultations and the assistance of local representatives, notably Véronique Borré from Lycée Les Palmiers in Nice and Solange Ponchon from Lycée Jean d’Ormesson in Chateaurenard, the decision was made to proceed with the uniform trial for the upcoming school year.
