New Festival 'Cap sous les étoiles' Debuts in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin Featuring Music and Comedy
The festival runs from July 17 to July 19, showcasing a blend of performances from established and emerging artists.
Roquebrune-Cap-Martin is set to host a new cultural festival, 'Cap sous les étoiles', taking place from July 17 to July 19. Organized by the municipality of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin in collaboration with Directo Prod, the inaugural edition promises a diverse lineup that brings together music and humor for a broad audience.
During a recent official presentation held under sunny skies, performers Olivier Laurent and &rea entertained attendees, transforming the entrance of the beautiful park in Cap-Martin into an impromptu stage.
The festival opens on July 17 with a performance by Olivier Laurent, known for 'Brel! Le Spectacle.' Amid a powerful artistic tribute, Laurent embodies the essence of Jacques Brel rather than merely singing his songs.
During the event presentation, he offered the audience a preview of his act, performing iconic pieces such as 'Ne me quitte pas' and 'Amsterdam' in front of the park's busts of notable figures, including Brel himself.
Laurent's intense interpretation is recognized globally, having captivated audiences in cities like Paris, Montreal, New York, and Dubai.
He shared insights into his connection to Brel, highlighting a shared philosophy of living art intensely.
He remarked, "During my performances, I can lose up to three kilograms, a testament to the physicality I bring to my work."
Following Laurent's compelling performance, the festival will feature celebrated French artist Michel Fugain on July 18. At 83, Fugain will offer a retrospective celebrating his impressive six-decade career.
Known for his iconic hits like 'Je n’aurai pas le temps' and 'Une belle histoire', Fugain's performance is expected to evoke nostalgia while providing an energetic and humorous experience, supported by his troupe of musicians.
Opening for Fugain, &rea is set to present his pop and electro-infused music.
The Monaco-born artist, whose introspective style brings a contemporary edge, is also excited to share the stage with Fugain, marking a significant debut in his performance journey.
The festival concludes on July 19 with an emphasis on humor.
The day will kick off with Niçois comedian Laurent Barat, who will explore the trials and joys of coupledom after 40. Known for his sharp self-deprecating humor, Barat is anticipated to deliver a fun and relatable performance.
The evening will culminate in a show by Anne Roumanoff, a renowned figure in observational comedy who will present 'L’Expérience de la vie.' Her act is expected to humorously dissect everyday absurdities ranging from automated supermarket checkouts to the complexities of modern relationships.
Between performances, the scenic park will offer a relaxed atmosphere for festival-goers.
Attendees can enjoy various culinary delights from food trucks positioned among ancient olive trees, enhancing the inviting summer ambiance.
Overall, 'Cap sous les étoiles' promises to provide three nights of varied entertainment and cultural engagement in a picturesque setting between the sea and the mountains.
